Hershey’s Best Brownies

Speaking of “from scratch” cooking and baking, how about a recipe that is a chocolate-lovers DREAM? Home made brownies? Yes please!

These are good with or without the frosting. I don’t always make the frosting but the recipe for the frosting is truly heavenly.

1/2 Cup, (1 stick) butter, melted (you can use salted or unsalted)
1 Cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 Cup all purpose flour
1/3 Cup Hershey’s Cocoa (I use the special dark version!)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt (I omit the salt if the butter has salt in it)

1. Heat oven to 350. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

2. Stir together melted butter, sugar and vanilla in large bowl; add eggs and beat well with spoon. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and beat until well blended. Pour into prepared pan.

3. Bake 20-25 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool, top with frosting (recipe follows).

Frosting Ingredients
3 Tablespoons softened butter
3 Tablespoons Hershey’s Cocoa (special dark!)
1 Tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup powdered sugar (um…I used way more than this because I didn’t like the consistency. It was more like 2 cups)
2 Tablespoons milk

Beat butter, cocoa, honey and vanilla in bowl. Add powdered sugar and milk; beat to spreading consistency. Pour over brownies and allow to set up.
